Helicopter Platforms
Helicopter-mounted LiDAR enables us to fly lower and slower than a fixed-wing aircraft, generating highly-accurate and comprehensive LiDAR and photography datasets.
A helicopter LiDAR system is the ideal tool for corridor mapping, because linear assets can be intimately traced and high levels of detail extracted from the imagery. Network Mapping has developed the core competencies and expertise required to conduct and deliver helicopter-based surveys - which includes experienced operations personnel and a custom mounting system compatible with a range of helicopter types.
Speed
The helicopter can intimately follow corridor routes, ensuring efficiency in the speed of data capture.
High Resolution
Engineering-grade survey information is easily attainable, with a helicopter-mounted LiDAR system. Millions of laser points are recorded for each kilometer, and in excess of 40 LiDAR points per square meter (where appropriate to the application) are captured - assuring that even the most subtle changes in topography are recorded.
Accuracy
The low height and slow flying speed of the helicopter - combined with ground-based control - delivers engineering-grade levels of accuracy, for use in the detailed design of infrastructure routes.
Transmission Example
Network Mapping performed 1800 miles of transmission line Aerial LiDAR survey, for a utility company located in the Northwest U.S. The project demonstrated a high-grade LiDAR specification (in excess of 40 points per square meter), as well as our experience with PLS-CADDTM modeling - including clearance checks. In addition, this project is a good example of Network Mapping providing a comprehensive and accurate Transmission Vegetation Management Program (TVMP).
